Four held for helping fugitives escape

In another incident, Gujjar Khan police carried out a raid at Tariq and Tahir's house in Sadiqabad area

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police on Wednesday arrested four suspects for providing shelter to criminals wanted to the police and helping them flee.

Rawal SP Mazhar Roy said that a squad from Ratta Amral police station conducted a raid at Arshad Khan’s house for arresting a fugitive Zubair Khan Bera. However, Arshad helped the suspect escape on which he was arrested by the police.

In another incident, Gujjar Khan police carried out a raid at Tariq and Tahir's house in Sadiqabad area. The police had received information that an alleged murderer, Zahid Hussain, was hiding in the said house. However, Tariq and Tahir helped Hussain escape and consequently landed in the police lock-up on charges of abetment.

Further, Potohar SP Syed Ali carried out a raid for booking Nasir, who was convicted in a cheque dishonor case. However, Muhammad Latif helped the suspect in running away. Following this, he was arrested by police. Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Younus, directed the police to continue action against abettors.
