Jawed Akhtar alias Chacha Pakistani was unhappy with the Sukkur administration, because nobody was there to welcome him when he reached the city, on his motorcycle late Wednesday night.
Chacha Pakistani departed from Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s Mausoleum in Karachi on August 1, he visited Hyderabad and other cities and then decided on a two-day stop in Sukkur. He will leave for Rahim Yar Khan on Friday morning and will pass through many big and small cities. Chacha Pakistani’s final destination is the mausoleum of Allama Mohammad Iqbal; he hopes to arrive there on August 14.
Chacha Pakistani told The Express Tribune that he has been taking this tour for the last nine years, on his own expense. He works as a driver in a private firm and lives in a rented house in Korangi. “The objective of my motorcycle tour is to preach peace and love for Pakistan, because nowadays people have lost their love for our homeland,” he explained.
Chacha Pakistani used to live in Hyderabad where he observed that cinema houses would play the national anthem before starting any movie and the entire audience, irrespective of their religion and language, would stand up in respect. “Nine years later, my wife and I went to watch a movie in Hyderabad’s New Majestic cinema. The cinema administration played the national anthem,” he recalled. “But nobody stood up.”
The patriotic Chacha said that he was unable to sleep that night, and the very next morning he decided to undertake a tour from Karachi to Lahore on his motorcycle to promote love for Pakistan among the younger generation.
His trusty steed is tastefully decorated with Pakistani flags of different sizes, pictures national leaders and martyrs of the Pakistan Army. Chacha Pakistani added that even though the annual trip costs him a fortune, he will continue it because it is his passion.
Chacha Pakistani was at one point so heavily in debt that he had to sell his house in Hyderabad to pay his loans and continue his mission. Chacha Pakistani has two sons, four daughters and a wife who is very unhappy with his yearly tour. “She often fights with me about my mission, and asks me to quit because it is disturbing our domestic budget,” he said. But he explained that he is addicted to his love for Pakistan and if his finances are limited then he will sell his belongings to end his craving, the way heroin addicts sell everything they own.
Chacha Pakistani lamented that if he were Shahid Afridi or Chacha Cricket then all the big companies and the government would have supported him. “I am Chacha Pakistani and nobody cares about me.”

Many Pakistani nationalists exist inside and out.
I am one of them. Chacha Pakistan will always have fans in every nook and cranny of the motherland.
Long live Pakistan.
He is selfless Chacha compared to Chacha Cricket....Thank you Chacha Pakistani for giving me an idea...I always wanted to do some thing different for my state ( Indian Punjab ) I cannot be Shaheed -i-Azam Bhagat Singh, but certainly I can be Chacha Punjabi...Hats off to Chacha Pakistani..
One could spend that extra tour money on something that's going to help him or his family. Fame of these sorts only works in Europe or U.S.
Munazza Sami............ what you do 4 Pakistan???????
plz ET give my salaam to chacha, we proud of him
@Munazza Sami: Arri Behan aap kiun naraz hoti heN, it is a natural and inherent instinct of a human to open the small circle of his monotonous life into a straight line and make such journeys. We heard from this Aam Admi Chachaji, because his adventurous spirit has been honoured from ET. Our media is not ONLY the possession of target killers, crook politicians and 1 1/2 feet long bearded preachers of hate.
Ok patriotism or no patriotism is not a debate. If you people want to speculate the will of his, speculate something positive. Its his money, he does what he likes to do, stop giving him ideas. At-least he has his country's flag. How many of you even have that? Doesn't do anything good but these small things tell you how much a person cares. Everyone does good to the best of his ability and people who are just criticizing either haven't done anything good or they just don't want anyone else to do good too. Do whatever good you can for the country in whatever way, rather then criticizing. When you point finger at someone the other 4 fingers are pointing towards you. Learn to appreciate better people, atleast he is not using looted money.
I feel if anyone who should be showered with rose petals in Pakistan is Chacha Pakistani and not murderers like Qadri's. The amount of enthusiasm, spirit and patriotism shown by him on various venues for many years and his nine years long tour for the sake of peace despite financial constraints should be honoured and rewarded financially by the state.
I am ready to afford Chacha Pakistani's tour from Lahore (Badshahi Masjid) to Islamabad (Parliament House). Chacha should end his tour at Parliament to leave a message in the winds of capital
Pure and complete waste of time. People should undertake such tours only when they can afford it and only if they have time. This guy should support his family.
Right now, the need is to work very, very hard. As Muhammad Ali Jinnah said 'Kaam, kaam aur sirf kaam.' That's what we need right now to take this country in the right direction. Not this complete waste of time and money.
@Agha: Your wisdom is unfathomable your excellency. ThankYou!!
I think that Chacha Pakistan should travel to Balochistan coastal area,Gwader to Turbat to Quetta than.....Where people really need a revival to love and respect Pakistan
Give your children (especially girl children) & others girl children, a good education (not of the radical kind) & watch how you help the nation. One educated girl will educate her children who
ll contribute to the nation. just do your bit, and that
s much more beneficial than running around on bikes in the hot sun and expecting others to come and invite you.You are covering chacha Pakistani. And what about 2 guy covering distance from Gilgit ( Gojal ) to Karachi on their feet. And carrying only 10 to 20k of cash.
patriotism ko maro goli , see is passion ,despite of all the difficulties he still do what he thiks good for his country . Help him !!!!
Chacha is nuts, he should have saved all the money he has spent on his petrol and stuff & invested it in some bank or financial institution , this patriotism isnt gonna feed him
@woohoo:
That is an extra wheel you dumb fool
It's not the rear wheel its a spare wheel look closely.
Why is the rear wheel up in the air?
Please ET if possible convey my heartily solidarity, love, respect to our patriotic and brave JANAB CHACHA JI from Germany........My Soul shall welcome him in my ancestors city of Lahore which is surrounded from the Souls of great Saints who brought the same light of love and peace to our Subcontinent! Ramzan Mubarak
all the best to him,we need more pakistanis like him,the mummy daddy burgers only desire to find some way to leave pakistan in search of the almighty dollar,i found this attitude in abundance when i was in KGS and i find it now at the MNC at which i work.
@Aadersh: this is not patriotism dear..if some one really loves to his country so he should do some thing creative which gives some benefits to his country......like fund raising for poor people.to help financially whose daughters are about to marry.to take responsibility to educated an orphan child......love should be seem through helping others not from such tours which is totally for the sake of fame........
this is not patriotism,.......this is totally stupidity.....what did he gain or give to any one of his loving country through these trips?....all he wants is fame...if he really loves his country so he should first take care of his family and then to support any needy person instead of such silly tours which is totally in the greed of fame........how could you expect love, care and sincerity from such person who did not think about his family.........His greed to fame is shown from his statement in last line"Chacha Pakistani lamented that if he were Shahid Afridi or Chacha Cricket then all the big companies and the government would have supported him. “I am Chacha Pakistani and nobody cares about me."
I feel sorry for people like him...Sometimes I feel Patriotism is lost in Pakistanis!!
