Covid-19 recovery rate inches up in Sindh

Sindh sees 1,776 new cases, 2,417 recoveries

KARACHI: With 2,417 patients having recovered overnight, Sindh's recovery rate has risen to 50.5 per cent, which is the highest since the start of the pandemic, revealed Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday.

During the same time period, Shah revealed, 9,080 samples were tested for coronavirus, of which 1,776 came back positive. Meanwhile, 22 more patients succumbed to the virus, lifting the death toll to 853.

"Our detection rate remains between 20 to 24 per cent of the samples tested, therefore we must observe social distancing and other standard operating procedures," he added.

He further disclosed that at present, 26,705 patients were undergoing treatment, of which 24,789 were isolated at their homes, 1,826 at different hospitals and 90 at isolation centres.

Shah also stated that a total of 307,412 tests have been conducted in Sindh to date, resulting in the detection of 55,581 coronavirus patients. Of this, 28,023 patients had recuperated, he added.

According to the CM, of the 1,776 new cases 1,091 were detected in Karachi. These include 337 cases in South district, 258 in East district, 205 in Central district, 104 in Korangi district, 95 in Malir district and 92 in West district.

Meanwhile, he stated, 66 new cases had emerged in Kashmore, 55 in Hyderabad, 41 in Ghotki, 29 in Khairpur, 29 in Larkana, 26 in Jacobabad, 26 in Sukkur, 24 in Mirpurkhas, 24 in Thatta, 13 in Jamshoro, 11 in Qambar-Shahdadkot, 10 in Shaheed Benazirabad, nine in Sanghar, eight each in Shikarpur and Badin, seven in Dadu, six in Umerkot, five in Tando Allahyar, three in Matiari and two in Tando Mohammad Khan.
