Although the district administration appeared in the dark about the matter, Renala Khurd city police said local government officials had removed the plaque to avoid its theft because the project site was deserted. They said it would be reinstalled when the scheme is developed.
Prime Minister Khan laid the foundation stone of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme at Shergarh Road, Renala Khurd, on May 4 last year. He unveiled it along with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Housing Minister Mahmoodur Rasheed and other leaders.
However, security personnel and other staff were not deputed at the site and local officials and police initially remained unaware that the inaugural plaque bearing the name of the prime minister was missing
