Wasa asks commissioner to help recover dues

20 govt depts owe Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agency Rs112.99 million

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has requested the divisional commissioner to help recover Rs112.99 million from 20 government departments that have defaulted in payment of dues.

Wasa said in a letter to the commissioner that the recovery of dues was necessary to continue water supply and sewerage disposal services to the departments.

The departments to which Wasa has been extending services for the past decade without payment of bills include the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) and National Transmission and Despatch Company with outstanding dues of Rs52.33 million, education department Rs11.77 million, railways Rs9.6 million, policeRs9 million.

The irrigation department owes Wasa Rs8.76 million, municipal corporation Rs4.14 million, Rescue 1122 Rs3.13 million, fisheries department Rs3.02 million, sports Rs3.5 million, health Rs1.69 million, district administration offices Rs1.33 million, social security Rs560,000, buildings department Rs520,000, district accounts office Rs970,000, labour department Rs750,000, Parks and Horticulture Authority Rs730,000, district council Rs800,000, post offices Rs310,000 and the district Auqaf department Rs100,000.
