Panic erupts after gunfire in city

Police registered a case and started raids to arrest the accused

LAHORE: Fear and panic spread fanned out in Fruit Mandi area near Ravi Road police station, after an incident of indiscriminate firing over a transaction dispute on Saturday.

Nearby persons on the spot laid down on the ground and protected themselves from the firing. The accused Abu Bakr and Abu Zar, along with two unidentified persons, went to the fruit market shop and opened indiscriminate fire.

The glass of the office was shattered by the firing and bullets also hit the walls and ceilings. Heavy firing spread panic in the area while the victim Omar and passersby laid down to protect their lives. The accused fled from the crime scene. Police registered a case and started raids to arrest the accused.
