Three drown in canals

Rescuers recover bodies, hand them over to heirs

FAISALABAD: Three persons, who went to the city’s canals for bathing, drowned to death in separate incidents on Saturday. According to Rescue 1122 officials, the emergency service’s divers recovered the three bodies and handed them over to their respective families.

As per details obtained by The Express Tribune, a 28-year-old man named Nabil Jutt, the son of a driver named Abdul Razzaq, went to bathe in the canal with his friends late Friday night. While bathing, he drowned in the canal and was killed on the spot. The officials added that the victim drowned in the canal located in Sandal Bar’s area.

The friends of the victim and nearby farmers searched for the victim’s body in the canal and, after recovering it, handed it over to his family. He was buried in Dera Saiyan graveyard in the presence of hundreds of people. In another incident, 28-year-old Muneeb, son of Abdul Razzaq, also lost his life while bathing in a canal in Chak No 57JB.

Separately, a 45-year-old man named Jaffar Hussain, the son of Shabbir, also drowned and was killed while giving a bath to his buffaloes in Ravi River.
