Couple earns social media praise after posting as DPO, AC in Mardan

Dr Zahidullah posted in the same district where his wife Gul Bano has been serving for the past eight months

PESHAWAR: In a surprising development, Dr Zahidullah was posted as district police officer (DPO) in Mardan, the same district where his wife Gul Bano has already been serving as assistant commissioner for the past eight months.

The posting of the duo in the same district has drawn attention on social media. The decision earned the admiration of Twitter and Facebook users.

Dr Zahidullah has previously served as AIG Establishment Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, former DPO Nowshera and ex-DPO Haripur.



Back in 2017, Bano came in limelight when she held khuli katchery for women in Urban-III Jangal Khel for the first time in the history of K-P.

She had said that the government was taking pragmatic measures to empower women and bring them in the mainstream for socio-economic development of the country. "Role of women can’t be overlooked in the development of any country."

The assistant commissioner said that the provincial government was considering establishing specific markets for women only "so that they could run their own business to support their families".
