Amitabh Bachan to be the voice of Google Maps?

According to a report published by an Indian daily, the actor has been made an offer

It appears that veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachan may soon become the voice of Google maps. According to a report published on Mid-Day, Google has already sent an offer to Bachan.

"Amitabh Bachchan has the most influential and recognisable baritone. Hence, he is the best choice for the voice of Google Maps. He has been approached, but the contract has not been signed yet," the reported quoted an unnamed source close to the matter.

With his baritone voice and strong linguistic command over both Hindi and Urdu, Bachan could be a more than apt South Asian equivalent of Australia-born, New York-based entertainer Karen Jacobsen, whose voice is usually heard while navigating.

Given the current situation with social distancing measures implemented in India, if the actor accepts, he will be recording his voice at home. He has reportedly offered an exorbitant amount.
"It's up to Bachchan now," the source said.

This is not the first time a Bollywood superstar would lend his voice to Google Maps. Two years ago, Amir Khan's character, Firangi from the film Thugs of Hindustan was incorporated in Google Maps as part of a deal between the company and Yash Raj Films.
