Shaniera says her and Wasim are proof that colour means absolutely nothing

She shared a list of demeaning and racist remarks both of them tackled post marriage

Entertainment Desk June 11, 2020

Ongoing debates surrounding racism, police brutality, colourism and selective activism have led social media personality and Money Back Guarantee actor Shaniera Akram to speak out on multiple occasions.

The most recent being her Instagram post which narrates how her relationship with Wasim Akram is a living proof of why your race and colour do not matter.

The starlet shared an image of her and her husband's hands overlapping with their wedding rings visible, along with a caption narrating a series of racist comments.

“He only married her because she’s white. She must be easy! Does his skin smell different? Why couldn’t he marry a Brown girl? It’s not natural for two skin colours to mix!"

The post continued, "Interracial relationships never work. What spell did she put on him? He will never take you seriously because you're white. You're both so different. You will never be accepted as a real couple. His sons can’t have a gori stepmother. If you have children they will grow up confused and treated differently."

After listing down these unsolicited remarks Shaniera said, "We have had it on both sides, it’s ugly and unwarranted! Skin colour only troubles the people in this world who see it. Like millions of others, We are living proof that colour means absolutely nothing, love does."

Prior to this wholesome narration, Shaniera had also shut down a hateful troll on her Twitter thread - criticising her for being white.

In her tweet she wrote, "I've been living in Pakistan for more than eight years. I have seen a lot but nothing frightened me more than the way, we as a country, have handled this pandemic. I fear we are past the stage of 'if we contract Covid,' every household must now prepare for 'when'."

Following this a user responded in a now, deleted comment. "I have been in Pakistan for eight years but you have not been able to read the word and become a Muslim. It is better to stay in the same circle as the country and religion. Pakistan is ours and will remain ours, it is not for whites like you!"

To this Shaniera just said, "And you my friend, have two pandemics to worry about! #RasicmIsNotABeliefItsADisease."
