Education dept officials held over fake appointment allegations

Dharejo warned officials of severe action if they didn't stop corrupt activities and didn't perform sincerely

KARACHI: Two Sindh education department officials were arrested in Ghotki on Tuesday over allegation of involvement in fake appointments and tampering government records.

A team of anti-corruption department, led by Inspector Ayaz Memon, carried out the arrests of taluka education officer (TEO) Abarullah Bachaio Qazi and former TEO Allah Warrayo Chachar and registered a case against them.

Another education department official, Akhtar Hussain Dhandhu, also accused of the offences, is reportedly on the run.

Meanwhile, addressing the issue of government officials' duplicity and misconduct, Sindh Anti-Corruption Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo said that crackdown on those involved in corruption was being intensified to ensure that such practices came to an end.

He added that immediate action was being taken on complaints of officials' misconduct.
