Agreement on new K-P fund sharing formula

Class four employees will be appointed after the approval of the MPA

PESHAWAR: To have a smooth budget and post-budget session in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the provincial government on Tuesday accepted demands of the opposition benches to grant them 35% of development funds.

This was decided during a meeting between representatives of the treasury and opposition benches in the assembly secretariat on Tuesday. It was attended by members of the Chief Minister’s Designated Committee including provincial ministers Shaukat Yousafzai, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Sultan Muhammad Khan, Akbar Ayub Khan, and Special Assistant to the CM Kamran Bangash. From the opposition benches, Deputy Opposition Leader in the K-P Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Sher Azam Wazir, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Nighat Orkazai and Rehna Ismail attended.

The meeting decided on a formula whereby treasury benches will get 65% of funds while the opposition the rest - reflecting their representation in the K-P assembly. Moreover, it was decided that class four employees will be appointed after the approval of the MPA of the relevant constituency.
