‘Baloch culture amongst most beautiful in the world’

Speakers call for showcasing Balochistan’s colours, music nationally

ISLAMABAD: Host to one of the oldest civilisations in the world, the culture of Balochistan is diverse and amongst the most beautiful and strongest cultures in the world.

This was stated by speakers during an online webinar on the "Culture of Balochistan". The seminar had been jointly organised by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage - Lok Virsa and Hast-o-Neest on Sunday. Various scholars and artists shed light on the Baloch culture and its significance, and the efforts made for its conservation.

Talha Kushvaha said that Balochistan is a huge mountainous plateau, where water is scarce, except for emerald green oasis settlements, where fruit farms and wheat fields merge beautifully in the backdrop of rugged, mountainous ranges.

He added that the Baloch culture is one of the most beautiful cultures in the world, and has been proven to be one of the oldest and strongest cultures of the world.

Scholar Dr Abdul Rehman said that the cultural landscape of Balochistan is rich with various ethnic groups. The indigenous Brahvi, Balochi and Pashtoon tribes are known for their hospitality, he said.

Moreover, Dr Rehman said that the province is home to some of the most ancient civilisations in the world, especially the Mehrgarh civilization which has special importance in South Asia.

Dr Farzand Masih said that Balochistan is distinct due to its topography and folk heritage. Cradle of the world's oldest civilization, he said that It is time colours of this province are projected at the national level. For this, he said folk artists from the province require patronage.

Another renowned scholar Saifullah Nasar said that the Baloch culture is full of traditions, arts and crafts. He added that Balochistan is also known for its tribes and vibrant festivals with folk music, songs and folk music dances along with a distinct tradition of storytelling.
