This was disclosed by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza on Thursday.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Murtaza said that PM Imran had tasked the RDA to make arrangements for the groundbreaking ceremony of the project after the monsoon spell.
He added that the foundation stone for the project will be laid near Margalla Hills - which is among the routes of the ring road.
With the project having been delayed until the next financial year, Murtaza reiterated, “Our agenda is not politics but to serve people”.
The official said that apart from the ring road project, they were launching different projects in the garrison city worth billions of rupees.
“I met with the prime minister at his residence in Bani Gala and informed him about the ongoing projects in Rawalpindi. He directed me to complete all projects, particularly the Ring Road project at the earliest,” the RDA chairman said.
Asked about the progress made on the ring road project, the chairman said that they are expected to complete the drawing and designing work of the project in June. Thereafter, as it moves to the execution stage the premier can lay the foundation stone by August.
“This is not just a road but it will also bring an economic revolution in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi,” Murtaza expressed.
