Police bust 96 gangs

More than 9kg of heroin, 228kg of hashish, 1kg of opium, 10 grammes of Ice and 7,838 litres of liquor were also seized

LAHORE: Lahore Police (Operations Wing) claimed to have arrested as many as 223 members of 96 gangs of criminals during May and recovered more than Rs1.85 million from them.

Police also arrested 465 suspected criminals and seized 23 rifles, five Kalashnikovs, 17 guns, 408 revolvers and pistols as well as thousands of bullets from their possession.

More than 9 kilogrammes of heroin, 228kg of hashish, 1kg of opium, 10 grammes of Ice and 7,838 litres of liquor were also seized from 663 arrested people.

Lahore police also arrested 113 criminals during its action against brothels in the city. Moreover, 307 proclaimed offenders in cases of theft, cheque dishonor fraud and other crimes were arrested along with 486 court offenders.
