Six killed, 30 injured as bus overturns in Khanewal

The death toll is feared to rise as several injured are reportedly in a critical condition

KHANEWAL: Six passengers were killed, while 30 sustained injuries when a bus overturned at a bridge in Khanewal on Sunday.

According to reports, the bus overturned on the outskirts of the city. Four passengers were killed on the spot.

According to rescue officials, they had rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies along with the injured to a hospital, where two more people succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to six.

The death toll is feared to rise as several injured are reportedly in a critical condition.

The bus was en route from Lahore to Multan. According to eyewitnesses, the bus overturned in an attempt to save a motorcyclist.

On Saturday, two people were killed, while another sustained serious injuries in separate road accidents in Kasur.

According to Khadian police officials, a motorcyclist Muhammad Siddique was riding on Khadian road when a speeding car coming from the opposite side hit the two-wheeler near Kacha Pakka stop.

Consequently, Siddique sustained serious injuries and was killed on the spot. Rescue 1122 shifted the body to a hospital.

In another accident, Imran along with his friend Kashif, was travelling on his motorcycle when they reached Kundan Morr, Changa Manga Road, where a speeding car hit and ran over them.

Imran sustained serious injuries and was killed on the spot, whereas Kashif sustained injuries and was shifted to the THQ hospital in critical condition.
