MULTAN:

The police on Tuesday arrested Zafar Tariq, the Sahiwal railway chief clerk (booking), and another official for selling fake railway tickets.

The two have been suspended while an inquiry is conducted. Last week, over 2,600 fake tickets were found at the Sahiwal reservation office during a surprise inspection by a team from Railways Headquarters. A response was sought from the Multan zone administration concerning the irregularity, after which Zafar Tariq and clerk Mazhar were found guilty. Sources said that commercial inspector Dr Munir was also involved in the fake ticket scam.
