In Islamabad, 131 suspects arrested in past three weeks

Five kilogrammes of hashish, two kilogrammes of heroin and 441 bottles of wine were recovered

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Saddar Zone police arrested as many as 131 suspects, including 81 absconders during the past three weeks. Narcotics, wine and weapons were recovered from them, a police spokesperson said.

Following directions of Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Operations-Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Waqaruddin Syed directed all police officials to accelerate their efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrests.

Following these directions, renewed efforts were made and the Islamabad Saddar Zone police, led by Saddar SP Sarfaraz Ahmed Virk cracked down on criminals.

They also arrested 81 absconders during this period, while at least 35 people were held for their alleged involvement in bootlegging as well as other drug peddling activities.

A total of 5 kilogrammes of hashish, two kilogrammes of heroin and 441 bottles of wine were recovered from them.

Meanwhile, 15 people were held for carrying unlicensed weapons. Officials recovered 13 pistols, a rifle, a dagger and ammunition from them.

Saddar SP Virk said that criminal elements will not be spared and those involved in anti-social activities will have to face action as per the law. He has also appealed the citizens to cooperate with Islamabad in curbing activities of such elements.
