Sindh records 959 new coronavirus cases

Death toll rises to 340, while 690 more patients recover

KARACHI: Sindh reported another 959 coronavirus cases on Friday, as four more patients fell prey to the virus and 690 others recovered from the infection.

In a statement issued regarding the pandemic's prevalence in the province, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah revealed that of the newly-recorded cases, 668 belonged to Karachi, comprising 253 from East district, 114 from South district, 103 each from Korangi and Central districts, 70 from West district and 25 from Malir.

Besides, 25 new cases have surfaced in Ghotki, 14 in Sukkur, 13 in Thatta, 10 in Shikarpur, nine in Larkana, seven in Hyderabad, six in Jamshoro, five in Qambar-Shahdadkot, three in Khairpur and as many in Shaheed Benazirabad, two in Sanghar and one each in Sujawal, Umerkot, Matiari, Dadu and Badin, he added.

The CM further said that with four more deaths, the province's death toll had reached 340 - 1.6 per cent of the total reported cases.

"Also, as 690 more patients have recovered from the infection, the total number of cured patients in the province has now reached 7,015, which means the recovery ratio now stands at 34 per cent as of now," he added.

This leaves 13,528 patients under treatment in Sindh, the CM explained, adding that among them, 11,895 were isolated at their homes, 797 were housed in isolation centres and 836 were admitted to hospitals.

"Those in hospital include 170 critically ill patients, 41 among whom are on ventilators," he stated.
