PIA flight PK8303 had 99 passengers and eight crew members onboard during the time of the incident. The crash caused significant damage in a residential area of Model Colony and reportedly destroyed four houses.
So far, 97 deaths have been reported with two survivors.
Among Pakistani celebrities, stars from across the border also mourned the loss of lives.
Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher took to Twitter to share condolences.
"Deeply saddened to hear about the plane crash in Karachi. My heartfelt condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones and sending my prayers for the speedy rescue & recovery of the ones who are injured," the Mr India star shared.

Kher, on the other hand, wrote, "Deeply saddened to know about the tragic PIA Plane Crash. It is so so sad. My heartfelt condolences and prayers for the families who lost their loved ones. May God give them the strength to deal with this tragic loss. Prayers for the injured."

Other than Bollywood stars, tennis star Sania Mirza also took to the micro-blogging website and wrote, "May Allah have mercy and give strength to the loved ones of the deceased ..no amount of condolences can be enough .. Heartbreaking and so so tragic."
