Jessica Alba is gearing up to star in a Netflix original. Alba will be the lead in an upcoming action film called Trigger Warning, reported the Hollywood Reporter. It is being directed by Mouly Surya who had a well-received Cannes entry named Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts which was also Indonesia’s foreign film Oscar submission.

Trigger Warnng’s plot is based on a veteran played by Alba,  still haunted by her past who has resorted to running the bar left by her grandfather in his will. She is faced with a moral dilemma upon getting to know of her grandfather’s untimely passing. The script is penned down by Josh Olson who got an Oscar nomination in 2005 for the film adaptation of the graphic novel A History of Violence and John Brancato who has previously worked on Terminator Salvation and the 2009 Bruce Willis starrer sci-fi film Surrogates.

Trigger Warning is being produced by Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, with Alba herself taking on the role of executive producer. Alba's credits include the 2000s Fantastic Four films and the Sin City movies. Among other things she stars and executive produces Spectrum Original’s LA’s Finest.

Trigger Warning’s reveal comes as part of a string of high profile power moves by Netflix this week.  This includes the purchase of the Dwayne Johnson-Emily Blunt superhero movie Ball and Chain and the streaming service circling Our Man From Jersey, a would-be starring vehicle for Mark Wahlberg.  Netflix ‘s most recent success in the action film genre was Chris Hemsworth's Extraction, which it has touted as its top movie ever with an estimated 90 million accounts watching at least part of the film. A sequel is in the works with screenwriter Joe Russo.
