The Punjab Nahi Jaungi actor is exploring her singing prowess after a successful stint in films, as she has done before. But this time it's a little different - Mehwish has taken to reciting a naat during the holy month on Ramazan.
Sharing her version of Karam Mere Aaqa on Twitter, Mehwish wrote, "I feel blessed that this Ramazan I am able to share a piece of my heart with you." She also added that this particular naat is "is very special to me. I hope it touches you in the same way it touched me."

Clad in a peaceful all-white ensemble, Mehwish's attire is a stark contrast from her onscreen persona, and naturally, Twitterati took to trolling her mercilessly. Some, however, also appreciated her effort at the craft.

Replying to a comment that has since been deleted, Mehwish stood up for herself in a power move. "Your language and choice of words shows everyone how much you yourself are adhering to Islam. Before preaching to me, perhaps you should learn the key tenet of our religion which teaches us to respect one another," she wrote.

To balance out the naysayers, many also stood up and cheered Mehwish on in her endeavour. "Islam is an open invitation for people from all walks of life. Who said Islam is only for angels? For saints? And who said Ramazan is only for angels and saints? It is for sinners and we are all sinners," wrote on user.
