FBR to approve the strategy for collection of taxes and clearing refund claims of billions of rupees

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will hold a meeting on Wednesday to approve the strategy for collection of taxes and clearing refund claims of billions of rupees, sources said on Monday.Tax officials will also discuss the handling of cases of sales tax and federal excise duty pending before the director general customs, intelligence and investigations, they said.The meeting of the Board-in-Council will be presided over by FBR Chairman Salman Siddique. Sources said that the meeting was scheduled to be held last month but was postponed because the chairman was not available. Other points on the agenda include billions of rupees in taxes due from Hub Power Company (Hubco), a review of the report regarding the steering committee of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (Pral) and increasing the retaining fees of FBR lawyers, sources said.
