DC orders inquiry after mill workers stage protest

Workers allege during the protest that the mills’ management was depriving them of their jobs

MUZAFFARGARH: Deputy Commissioner Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen ordered an inquiry after workers of a textile mills staged protest outside its gates on Wednesday, alleging that they were told to leave the premises for seeking wages and arrears.

Workers of the mills at Khanpur Bagga Sher alleged during the protest that the mills’ management was depriving them of their jobs, and when they demand wages and arrears, they were forced by the security staff to leave the premises.

Around 700 workers are employed at the mills, they said.

Taking notice of the protest, the DC formed an inquiry committee to probe into the allegations of workers, according to officials of the deputy commissioner office.
