307 new Covid-19 infections confirmed

Shah stated that of 307 new cases, 237 were from Karachi

KARACHI: As many as 307 new cases of the coronavirus have been detected in Sindh, while 11 more people have lost their lives to the virus, said Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Shah maintained that with the 11 deaths, the provincial death toll had reached 148. Meanwhile, 42 people had recovered and were sent to home, which brought the total number of recovered patients to 1,670.

The CM that so far, 68,873 tests were conducted in Sindh, of which 8,189 tuned out to be positive cases. Shah added that 6,370 of these patients were undergoing treatment, where 5,139 were isolated at their homes, 736 in isolation centers and 495 in different hospitals.

When speaking about the district breakup of the cases, Shah stated that of 307 new cases, 237 were from Karachi. Among them, 70 cases were detected in Central district, 45 in East district, 21 in Korangi district, 55 in Malir district, 34 in South district and 12 in West district, he added.

Meanwhile, 21 new cases have emerged in the Khairpur district, 12 in the Kashmore-Kandhkot district, eight in the Larkana district, five in the Hyderabad district, three in Sukkur, one in the Badin district, one in the Sanghar district and one the Shaheed Benazirabad district.
