Third Covid-19 patient dies in Haripur

HARIPUR: Third death from coronavirus was reported on Monday, while three people of the same family were found infected with the virus.

Zafar Iqbal a resident of the Afzal Abad area was under treatment at the dedicated hospital for Covid-19 in Haripur.

According to Haripur District Health Officer Dr Saifullah Khalid, Tehsil Municipal Authority health department team will arrive at the ancestral graveyard for the burial of the deceased as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs). Moreover, Test samples of all the family members of the deceased will be obtained.

Dr Khalid said that three people of a family living in the same house in Khalabat Township were tested positive for Covid-19. Subsequently, the lane where they lived was sealed and their house was disinfected, while the whole area was sprayed too.

Khalid said number of confirmed patients in the district has reached 22, while 50 people have been put in quarantine on suspicion of being infected.

District administration and health department Haripur made operational an abandoned hospital after 12 years and established it as a coronavirus dedicated hospital. Dr Khalid said the hospital was established 12 years ago for dengue fever patients but never became operational, until now. It has six new ventilators, beds, medicines other facilities, trained doctors and paramedical staff.
