Circumstances may have led her astray but Mehwish wasn't inherently evil: Ayeza Khan

The celebrity explained why she accepted the role in 'Meray Paas Tum Ho' while others rejected it

Ayeza Khan recently appeared on a Ramazan transmission with Lollywood veteran Reema Khan and opened up about life after her super hit serial Meray Paas Tum Ho (MPTH).

The beauty discussed how she made a conscious effort to stay humble, irrespective of the popularity she got through the show. She also revealed the reason why she took up the role of Mehwish when so many other female stars of the Pakistan TV fraternity rejected it.

Asked how she felt about being isolated right after Meray Paas Tum Ho concluded, Ayeza said, "I want to tell you something... I don't like to hear or talk about my success because I feel I might develop a habit of it."

She quoted her efforts to stay humble as the primary reason behind not giving interviews or responding to queries about her work"Everyone loved the serial but I feel that the sooner you go up, the quicker you come down. So we need to stay in the middle. And when I came into the industry, my intention was to always find a middle ground," Ayeza stated. "I didn't want to be somewhere unreachable, nor did I ever want to be too much in the limelight."

In awe of her response, Reema confessed that Ayeza 's humility reflected not only through her words but her face as well.

Asked about how she managed work with her husband (actor Danish Taimoor) and children, Khan quipped, "I work five days a week and both Danish and I reach home by 9:30. I don't stay out late and I like giving my family a lot of time."

The celebrity then added that the calm and success she has in her life and career is because of the kind of people she had encountered. "Everyone I've met in the industry has been very supportive of me. Even when I used to be in college, they would wait for me during  shoots, understanding when I needed time for my own. Even now, if I say, it's my child's birthday, they quickly give me an off without asking further questions."

As she shed light upon her experiences, Ayeza credited her positive relationships with others. "Humility is the only permanent thing...beauty and status fades."

Asked why she decided to do a negative role in Meray Paas Tum Ho, Ayeza said, "I understand that people tend to correlate your onscreen persona with your actual self, but I considered the role because Nadeem Baig and Khalilur Rehman Qamar brought it to me. And I know when these two men approach you for something, they come prepared."

Ayeza then recalled discussing the serial before officially signing up for it. She accepted the offer  only after several people narrated similar instances from their lives to her. "It was like a sign from God and I realised I had been looking at the world from a pedestal, having the perfect husband and life, when that wasn't the case with everyone."

Ayeza also addressed the criticism Meray Paas Tum Ho received in a very subtle manner. "When we do a serial, we obviously exaggerate certain things. And we need to ensure that the wrongdoing of a character is prominent."

She then revealed that the serial actually led her to meet several other people who came to her saying, "I have been the Mehwish from your serial" and "I can relate with Danish so much." Some even cried in front of her.

In the end, Ayeza realised Mehwish wasn't actually a negative character. "I went to Nadeem bhai and told him that she wasn't all that bad. Her circumstances may have led her astray but she wasn't inherently evil."
