High possibility of sighting the moon on Sunday due to clear weather, says MET office.

LAHORE: The central and zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees will meet on Sunday to confirm the moon-sighting for Ramazan. The holy month of Ramazan is likely to start from August 1.

The session of the central Ruet-E-Hilal committee will be held in Karachi whereas the zonal committee meeting will be held at the Radio Pakistan building in Lahore on Sunday.

The meteorological department team will also attend the zonal committee session.

According to the met office, there is a high possibility of sighting the moon on Sunday due to clear weather therefore the first fast is most likely to fall on August 1.

    Wrong news,sunday is 28th shaban.y wud they meet on 28th shaban,they r suppose to meet on monday the 29th shaban.this is some mistake by ur web editor.

    they r meeting on 28th shabaan because if u had looked at the last months moon. the moon was sighted a day later then it should have been. the size of the new moon was bigger than what should have been for first day of the month.maybe they r rectifying the mistake

    yes i am also not getting the fact that why they are meeting on sunday as it is 28th shaaban on sunday and islamic month has either 29 or 30 days..infact i saw such a news on express news channel last night..please clarify..why such a big error is being made on both print and electronic media..and this news is only aired on express news..

    sunday is 28th shabaan.. they will meet and say “oh sorry!! its 28th… but doesnt matter, let us have a dinner here”. this is pretty normal in our government. this is a ridiculous news. should have been investigated before printing…

    Moons that are viewed on the completion of 30 days do look a little bigger.
