The first trailer for Tom Hardy's upcoming film Capone has finally been unveiled. As the name suggests, the film is a biopic of notorious American gangster of the Great Depression era, Al Capone.

Hardy is set to essay the role of an ageing Capone going through dementia.  Initially titled Fonzo, Capone takes place after the gangster came out of prison after a decade. “The 47-year old Al Capone, after 10 years in prison, starts suffering from dementia, and comes to be haunted by his violent past.”

The trailer primarily shows the gangster in senile condition at his lavish estate in Florida. In the backdrop there is an investigation taking place with one official alluding to the possibility of  Capone's sickness being just an act to keep him out of prison.

The film is set to release on May 12 as a video on demand with a 48-hour rental. There are still plans to release the film in cinemas during the summer if the theatres are allowed to open.

The film is directed by Josh Trank who also wrote the script. Aside from Hardy it also stars Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan and Noel Fisher.
