Two arrested for extortion on industrialist’s complaint

Police claimed to have recovered illegal weapons, cash and other evidence from their custody

LAHORE: Police claimed to have arrested two men and registered an FIR against them for extortion on the complaint of an industrialist in Baghbanpura.

Sources revealed that an industrialist, Muhammad Naveed, told the police in the complaint that an unidentified suspect had asked for his phone number, saying that one Kashif Butt wanted it. After a while, he received a call.

The caller told him that his factory was built on the land of another party that had asked for over Rs5 million. He went to Butt’s place and paid him Rs50,000. He allegedly abused him and asked him to bring more money. After the complaint, police registered a case, conducted a raid and arrested the suspects. Police also claimed to have recovered illegal weapons, cash and other evidence from their custody. Further investigation is underway.
