JHELUM: As a preventive measure against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Jhelum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saif Anwar Jappa oversaw disinfectant spraying activity in the city centre on Saturday.

DC Jappa, District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Umar Farooq and other officials walked from GTS Chowk to Kutcheri Chowk.

The disinfectant chemical was sprayed on all establishments on the given route. DC said that the district administration, with help of Rescue 1122, was spraying disinfectant chemicals on all important areas in all four tehsils of Jhelum district. He added that a plan in this regard was already devised that was being implemented strictly.

Jappa urged the people to cooperate with the government and avoid venturing outside unnecessarily. He said that they would soon install walk-through sanitising gates at important public places including vegetable market, DC Complex and other important places.

Earlier this week Chief  Minister Usman Buzdar inspected the 120-bed quarantine centre at Cadet College Jhelum where he was told that coronavirus was confirmed in 28 patients in Jhelum, while 1327 others, who came from abroad, were again screened.
