Yasir Hussain posts funny video calling out celebrities publicising social work

Faisial Qureshi and Amanat Ali had also condemned the act earlier

Several celebrities have recently initiated donation drives for daily wage workers to help curb the rise in poverty amidst the lockdown.

In the process of doing so, some of them publicised the collected donations and their social work while requesting for people to continue their cause.

However, popular actor Faisal Qureshi recently tweeted in response to such activities, urging people and celebrities to not take pictures or make videos while making donations.

He said, "Khudara imdad karty waqt picture ya video na banayen kuch ayese loug hain jo majbori ki waja sey yeah madad hasil kar rahien hain.. logoon ki majbori ko publicity stunt na bnayien.. aur yeah waqt bari zalim cheez hey. (For God's sake, refrain from taking pictures when helping people. There are some people who have been forced to seek this help, please don't make a publicity stunt out of their need. Time is cruel.)"

Amanat Ali also followed suit as he uploaded an Instagram post questioning why celebrities always end up doing social work in front of the cameras.

But Yasir Hussain held no restrain as he re-posted a sarcastic video, reiterating the same point. His caption read, "yeh haal hai aaj kal celebrities ka bhi aur baki logon ka bhi. Ya Allah hum sab ko hidayat de. Aqal de. Jazba ata farma. Aur logon ki madad karny ki tofeeq ata farma. Aameen. (This is the state of celebrities and public. Oh God, show us the right way, grant us intelligence, passion, and the means to help. Amen.)"

The video featured another social media user, Yasir Taj, donning a beard and sun glasses, along with a handkerchief and topi on his head. He indirectly mocked the upsurge in prices of sanitisers and masks while also taking a dig at the people publicising their social work.

Hussain then penned a note on his Instagram story to condemn the behaviour himself.

He had earlier uploaded another image calling out the people taking pictures of their social work and uploading it on Instagram.

However, singer Natasha Baig holds the notion that publicising such activities may actually lead to an increase in social services. Provided that celebrities are influential figures, Natasha believes that uploading pictures and videos of such donation drives may actually influence others to donate as well.

In a tweet she said, "I think for public figures it's important to share pictures while doing charity because their followers will take inspiration. This can make their followers do good deeds too. Allah sab ko naik hidayat de."
