FAISALABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested the brother of former caption of the National Hockey Team Shehbaz Junior on charges of extorting money and human smuggling.

On Thursday, FIA sources told The Express Tribune that a complaint was lodged with the Faisalabad FIA division by Chiniot resident Shahid Husain. Husain alleged that Rana Anwar, the younger brother of Shehbaz Junior had received Rs1.6million and five passports to send him and his in-laws abroad.
Husain further alleged that despite a commitment made by Rana Aawar, he and his associates were not sent aboard despite repeated promises. Husain claimed that he had even asked the accused to return his money upon which the accused gave them cheques, which were later rejected by the concerned bank branch. “There was no cash in the account” he said. The FIA conducted a preliminary inquiry and found the allegations of the complainant to be true. A case has been registered against the accused and an FIA team arrested Anwar and recovered 5 passports.
