Over 150 doctors to serve at telemedicine centre

Citizens’ efforts to curb coronavirus threat termed commendable

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar will inaugurate the ‘Governor Punjab Telemedicine Helpline Centre’ on Monday. In the first phase, over 150 doctors will be available to guide the citizens about coronavirus hazards and its prevention at the call centre round the clock.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sarwar said that political and religious parties, as well as the nation’s resolve to get united to control coronavirus is highly commendable. “I am sure that when we will fulfill our responsibility to control coronavirus then we will succeed in saving ourselves from it.” He maintained that the main objective of suspension of social activities in Punjab and parts of the country, including the closure of markets, shopping centres and other public places, is to protect the people from the pandemic.

“Doctors will remain at the helpline centre for 24 hours to conduct people’s online medical checkup.”

The doctors will also inform the people about coronavirus, he added.

The governor mentioned that only 16 persons out of 10,500 people using the helpline have been advised to get coronavirus tests in the first batch from the helpline centre at the UHS.
