Detained Kashmiri leader and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Chairman Zafar Akbar Bhat was shifted to hospital after his health deteriorated at Chanapura Police Station in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

“Bhat's nose started bleeding in the police station due to high blood pressure after which police personals shifted him to hospital where he is under treatment," according a statement issued by the JKSM on Saturday.

Bhat was also taken to the hospital two days ago due to his worsening health condition but was shifted back to the police station following a minor treatment, it added.

Meanwhile, JKSM President Altaf Ahmad Bhat, in another statement issued from Islamabad, expressed his concern over the declining health of Zafar Akbar Bhat.

“Kashmiri political detainees also face severe threats from the spread of the COVID-19, therefore, India should release them without any further delay,” he said while condemning the Indian judiciary for implicating illegally detained Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a fake case.

“India could not weaken the freedom sentiment of the resistance leaders of IOK through such cheap tactics.”

Appealing to the world community and human rights organisations following the outbreak of novel coronavirus in New Delhi, Bhat said that all Kashmiri leaders and political activists languishing in different jails are in danger.

“India should release all arrested Kashmiris to ensure their health safety that is at stake after the COVID-19 crisis across the region,” he added.
