Control room set up at DC office to monitor coronavirus surveillance operation

Lahore DC deploys officials to perform duties in three shifts for round the clock monitoring

LAHORE: The Lahore district administration on Thursday established a control room at Deputy Commissioner’s Office to monitor and supervise coronavirus surveillance operation.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzal said the government has also deployed officials of different government departments, including Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Police and Rescue, which will perform duties in tree shifts for round the clock monitoring.

The local administration has also nominated Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Rana Amjad as a focal person and in charge of the control room. Afzal has directed all officials not to leave their place of duty until the arrival of the staff of the following shift. He underscored that no negligence would be tolerated in this emergency situation and the control room will help the government and authorities to work in close coordination and informed decision making.

He further pointed out that DC’s Office has suspended all public deal and issued helpline numbers for telephonic contact in case of any emergency. District administration has also issued contact numbers of the control room’s shift in charges.

District administration also completed arrangements of coronavirus centre established in the University of Engineering and Technology, Kala Shah Kaku Campus. The deputy commissioner highlighted that the government has also deployed staff at the coronavirus centre by transferring officials from different tehsils. The Lahore Waste Management Company has also provided three supervisors and 30 sanitary workers at the coronavirus centre.
