Ghani Khan remembered for advocating critical thinking

ANP leader says that Ghani had urged the Pashtun nation to choose the right path in their lives

PESHAWAR: To pay tribute to acclaimed Pashto poet and intellectual Abdul Ghani Khan, a festival was organised at the Bacha Khan Markaz in the provincial capital.

Organised by the Awami National Party (ANP), the “Ghani Festival” also marked the 24th death anniversary of the poet.

At the start of the event, a painting competition was held in which 15 students from different art colleges around the province showcased their skills by filling their canvas per the theme “Da Ghani Rangona” (The colours of Ghani).

Later, office-bears of ANP, including Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan shed light on the contributions made Ghani in different fields such as politics, literature, and the arts.

Aimal said Ghani was naturally very adept at art and the way he did justice to his skills was enjoyed by his followers.

He added that the social reformist used his art and poetry to identify social evils and his work revolved around the theme of individuality.

The ANP leader said that Ghani had urged the Pashtun nation to choose the right path in their lives. He went on to assert that Ghani did not crutch on philosophy to make his poetry credible, rather he bestowed philosophy a poetic modality.
