LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has ordered the release of 24 Indian fishermen from various jails in Sindh, Express 24/7 reported on Tuesday.

According to sources, the 24 fishermen had accidently crossed into Pakistani waters.

The release comes ahead of talks between Pakistani and Indian foreign ministers in New Delhi.

Fishermen from India and Pakistan often end up in prisons across the border when they cross international maritime boundaries.

Indian authorities had earlier released 87 Pakistani fishermen.

The fishermen were captured between November 2010 and January 2011 for illegally entering Indian waters in the Arabian Sea.
