Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly had good reason for leaving baby Archie with a nanny in Canada while they returned to the U.K. for their final engagements as working Royals.

Telegraph columnist Bryony Gordon, one of the handful of journalists picked to attend the Duchess of Sussex's private engagement earlier this week, reported that the couple left Archie in Canada due to concerns about coronavirus, reported InStyle.

"The decision to leave Archie behind in Canada came not out of petty spite, as reported in some areas, but out of concern for his health during the threat of a global pandemic," Gordon wrote.

Meanwhile, People and Us Weekly have reported updates this week on how Archie is doing in Canada. A source told People the 10-month-old is "doing great. He’s grabbing onto things and picking himself up. He’s starting to have movement, which is really exciting."

Meghan herself has also told people that Archie is  "into everything" at the moment, and that he's started trying to walk.

A source also told Us Weekly that since Meghan reunited with Archie in Canada after the Sussexes' farewell tour, she's been taking daily walks with her son through the woods.

"She either pushes him in a stroller through the paved trails through the public woods by their home or straps him on and walks the more rustic routes," the source said. "The walks usually last around an hour or two, but she takes them daily."

They added that Meghan is "very kind to the locals she meets while hiking," and stops to chat with strangers. "She’s all around pleasant to strangers. She is telling friends that she is so happy to be out in nature and [in] their secluded area.”

Now that Meghan and Harry are no longer working Royals, we may not see them at another public event for a while, though some have theorized they could show up at the Queen's birthday celebration in June.
