Actor Winona Ryder, ex-fiance of Johnny Depp, has allegedly filed a declaration defending him against his ex-wife Amber Heard's domestic violence allegations.

In a report reviewed by The Blast, the Stranger Things star recorded her statement, reflecting on the long relationship she shared with her Edward Scissorhands costar - the two dated from 1989 to 1993, during which time they were engaged for three years.

"I am aware of the violence allegations that have been made publicly for the last few years by Johnny Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard,” wrote Winona before delving into her own experience with him. "I knew Johnny very well years ago. We were together as a couple for four years, and I counted him as my best friend, and as close to me as family."

"I count our relationship as one of the more significant relationships of my life. I understand that it is very important that I speak from my own experience," she continued, adding a disclaimer that she was speaking strictly from her own experience.

"I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him,” she added, saying how he was starkly different with her than what she's heard.

Winona and Johnny were famously in love with each other, and he even had a tattoo saying 'Winona Forever'. "The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations.”

That's not all, she clarified how he was never violent towards her during their long courtship, saying, "He was never, never violent towards me. He was never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen."

She also vouched for his character, saying how he is an "incredibly loving, extremely caring guy" who is protective about the ones he loves. "I felt so very, very safe with him," she said.

"I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do," she concluded in the report.

Johnny and his 33 year-old ex-wife Amber Heard are embroiled in an ugly legal battle since 2016, when Amber filed for a restraining order citing domestic abuse at the hands of Johnny - a claim he expressly denies.
