The road will primarily service the Mehsud belt of Waziristan which has been the hardest hit by militancy over the past two decades.
The construction of the road was announced by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday while presiding over a meeting held to review the progress made on the implementation of various uplift and social sector service delivery schemes launched in the Dera Ismail Khan division.
CM Mahmood directed the Communication and Works department to prepare a Project-Concept-I (PC-I) for the project so that formal approval can be sought.
The chief minister said that another 100 Kilometer-long road, as announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan for South Waziristan, will be built in the Wazir belt of the district — the other major tribe of the tribal area.
He also approved all development schemes outlined for the Mehsud area which could not be executed for the past eight years due to the law and order situation there.
