Dr Farooq, a senior leader of the MQM, was murdered outside his home in London in 2010.
On December 5, 2015, the FIA registered a case against the MQM founder and other party leaders for their alleged involvement in the murder.
According to the Scotland Yard, the murder took place in the evening when Dr Farooq was returning home after finishing work at a local pharmacy.
An autopsy determined the cause of death as being head trauma and stab wounds to the neck.
On Monday, the proceedings of the case were conducted by ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand.
FIA prosecutor Khawaja Imtiaz appeared before the court and said that all necessary evidence was collected and witnesses had testified before the court.
He also presented the record the FIA had acquired from Sri Lanka pertaining to the case.
Accused Khalid Shamim, Moazzam Ali and Mohsin Ali Syed were produced before the court.
The court after inquiring the defense counsel ordered to close the procedure of evidence collection and directed to record the statement of the accused under Section 340 Cr PC in the next hearing.
The court rejected the defense counsel’s plea to conduct the proceedings of the case on daily basis and adjourned the hearing until March 11.
