Hussain qualifies for World Championship

KARACHI:


Pakistan’s Israr Hussain qualified for the 50-metre freestyle event at the 14th Fina World Swimming Championship underway in Shanghai after finishing second in the preliminary rounds.


Hussain and Kiran Khan are representing Pakistan at the tournament.

Hussain finished second behind Palestine’s Tawil Majd after covering the distance in 26.80 seconds while Tolga Akcayli of St Vincent & the Grenadines came third.

Hussain will also take part in the 100-metre freestyle while Khan will participate in the 50-metre butterfly and backstroke events. Hussain’s 100-metre freestyle event takes place tomorrow.
