LAHORE: Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar said on Thursday that peace has been restored in Pakistan after the elimination of terrorism, owing to the sacrifices of Pakistani Army and other security forces.

He expressed these views while addressing the overseas Pakistani citizens and the business community at Pakistan High Commission in Britain.

“The country’s soft image has shone on the world arena and investors from all over the globe are coming to Pakistan.”

“International journals are declaring Pakistan as the best country for tourism, while international cricket is also reviving, hockey grounds are resettling and Kabaddi World Cup was also held in Pakistan,” the Punjab governor said, adding, “Opening up of Kartarpur Corridor especially for Sikh community by Prime Minister Imran Khan is being highly appreciated all over the world.”

In his address, Sarwar said, “I want to give good news to overseas Pakistanis that the High Court has constituted three benches to exonerate their cases in the courts at the earliest to ensure dispensation of justice to them, as these benches are hearing the cases of overseas Pakistanis only.”

“Overseas Pakistanis’ problems are resolved not in year but in months.”

He further said courts have also been established in every district to take decisions on merit after hearing the people’s cases.

“So far we have resolved 6,000 cases and committees have been constituted in all districts that hold monthly meetings,” he informed the audience.

He vowed the poor would be provided their due rights, “Government’s top priority is to uplift the weaker segments of the society.”

“Transparency and 100% merit is being ensured in all the projects aimed at people’s prosperity.”

Sarwar assured the public that an equal rule of law instead of separate justice system for the poor and the rich is being ensured.

“All the institutions including the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) are working independently. We do not believe in the politics of vengeance.”

The governor flaunted that the country’s exports have so far recorded an increase of 3.62% in the current financial year. However, he expressed concern that the nation was bearing the brunt of costly projects initiated by the past rulers.

Pakistani High Commissioner in Britain Nafees Zakriya, Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) Chairman Mian Kashif Ashfaq, British Member Parliament (MP) Afzal Khan, Atif Chaudhry and others were also present on the occasion.
