KARACHI: We can feel it in the air, spring is around the corner, which means it's well and truly time to ditch winter clothes and opt for flowy, cooler outfits in preparation for the heat and sunny days.

More importantly, it's time to embrace the season's biggest trends. The over-arching theme for spring? Keeping it simple and classic. Sleek and structured basics, eye-catching colour combinations and timeless prints are what fashion experts are seeing on the runway and predicting for the running theme of the season.

Whether it's swapping out something old for an updated version, or simple ways to style true and tried pieces, here's how to ensure your wardrobe is ready for spring.

Fantastic florals

In the words of Miranda Presley from the Devil Wears Prada, "Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking,' and while we completely agree with the character's sentiments, the trend pops up each and every year. This time around, flowers are looking  psychedelic and free-spirited. Keep an eye out for large graphics, and don't be afraid to think outside the realm of dresses. Floral-print blouses, bags, and even shoes are all ways you can easily get on board with the trend.

If you would like to draw floral inspiration from desi styles, look no further than Mahira Khan's iconic floral sari paired with a blazer look. We are still obsessed!

Pink power and baby blue

Givenchy's pre-fall collection had fashion experts seeing denim in a whole new light. Jean staples, from shorts to shirts, look sweeter when paired with light pink and baby blue items. The fresh colour scheme is a quick way give things a dressed-up vibe, instead of leaning toward laid-back and casual.

Baby blue and pink traditional attire also looks perfect for spring time. Opt for a loose, airy shalwar kameez set with a pink dupatta.

Easy breezy

The key for spring 2020 is not to appear like you've overthought too much. Throwing on loose, less structured pants, whether they're satin or cotton, with a simple white shirt is a classic look that never goes out of style. Pair with some boots and you can dress up the ensemble with jewelry of your choice, along with something along the lines of a light leather jacket. We also love Sadaf Kanwal's all-white look, dressing it up with red heels and a cute bag!

White wonder

What's an easy way to look both sleek yet feminine for spring? White dresses, of course! This timeless look can be transformed into a look that's all of your own with the help of accessories. Pile on necklaces, layer it over a turtleneck, or air with boots. The look is definitely in the running to become the most versatile thing in your closet.
