Bricks: National Highway blocked over tax

KHANPUR: A protest demonstration was organised by All Pakistan Brick Kiln Owners Association on Saturday against the imposition of general sales tax on bricks. The protestors blocked National Highway, causing a long queue of vehicles for more than an hour. The protestors warned that production of bricks would be suspended if the government did not withdraw the notification until the first of Ramazan. Earlier, Khanpur chapter of the association staged a sit-in in front of the office of the district coordination officer to press for their demand that bricks be declared exempt from GST.
