The campaign was formally initiated at the university’s Muzaffarabad Campus, where Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ziaul Qayyum planted the sapling of a Chinar tree.
The university’s 51 regional offices have been advised to promote tree plantain on under the Green Pakistan Programme. A botanical garden has also set up at the main campus for promoting research in the horticulture sector. The botanical garden works as an open lab with documented collections of living plants for scientific research, conservation and display.
During the visit to Muzaffarabad, the VC held a meeting with the local officials, tutors and students and discussed with them the ways and means to upgrade the university’s services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The VC directed the regional office to pay special attention to facilitating students from remote areas in their educational pursuits.
