ISLAMABAD: To make the implementation of the Accelerated Implementation Programme — for development projects of the erstwhile federally administered tribal area — more effective, the provincial government has devised an augmented implementation mechanism.

This was disclosed by officials of the provincial government on Friday during a high-level dialogue with major development partners in Islamabad.

During the dialogue, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to ensure accelerated and comprehensive development in the province, with a special emphasis on the newly merged tribal districts (NMTDs).

“Our development strategies include a Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) and the Tribal Decade Strategy (TDS), which must translate into real impact to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people,” Jhagra said.

K-P Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan said that “AIP is our priority focus which covers the delivery of basic services and availability of infrastructure for the five million residents of NMTDs.”
