Pakistan’s campaign at the Karatedo Asian Federation Senior Championships came to an end after a semi-final loss to China in the team event.
Baz Mohammad, Muham-mad Kashif, Saadi Abbas and Muhammad Ramzan represented Pakistan at the tournament.
However, team manager Muhammad Jehangir was upbeat despite the loss, stating that the results achieved by the players were beyond expectations.
“Abbas made us proud when he bagged a gold medal in the 65-kilogramme (kg) category and now our team has finished among the top four countries,” he told The Express Tribune. “It’s been a good run for Pakistan.”
Besides Abbas, Mohammad competed in the 60-kg event where he lost to a Chinese player while Kashif was only able to win his opening kumite in the in 55-kg category. Imtiaz Ali and Ramzan also failed to qualify for the quarter-finals in their respective categories.
