Muzaffargarh Emergency: Seven killed in bus-truck collision

Seven people, including two sisters, died on Saturday when a Karachi-bound bus overturned.

MUZAFFARGARH: Seven people, including two sisters, died on Saturday when a Karachi-bound bus overturned after colliding with a stationary truck on the National Highway in Muzaffargarh district. As many as 40 people were injured in the accident which occurred near the Hityan bus stop in Hamzay Wali in Shehr Sultan on the Karachi-Lahore-Peshawar highway. Police and eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred because of rash driving. The bus driver, Hafeez, died on the spot. Rescue 1122 officials later identified some of the deceased as Haji Mohammad Amins of Ahmadpur East, Khuala of Karachi, and two sisters identified as Sana and Amna of Mansehra. Emergency was declared at the district headquarters hospital in Muzaffargarh where 35 of the injured were admitted. At least 15 others were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital in Multan. Four of the injured persons were treated at the rural health centre in Shehr Sultan.
